Don't Resist the Spirit's Leading

Acts 7:51-53
51 “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you! 52 Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One—the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered. 53 You deliberately disobeyed God’s law, even though you received it from the hands of angels.”
Ephesians 4:30
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
Devotional: Stephen confronted religious people with a hard truth: they resisted the Holy Spirit. We do this when we ignore His conviction about sin, dismiss His promptings to bless others, or harden our hearts to His guidance. The Spirit speaks through gentle impressions—call that friend, help that stranger, give generously, avoid that temptation. When we consistently resist, our hearts become calloused to His voice. But when we obey, even when it feels uncomfortable or inconvenient, we position ourselves for miracles. That "random" feeling to stop for gas or call someone might be divine orchestration. The Holy Spirit often leads us to do things that benefit others, not ourselves—that's how you can distinguish His voice from selfish thinking. Today, commit to obey the next prompting you sense.
Reflection Question: What has the Holy Spirit been prompting you to do that you've been resisting?
