Unity is Not Uniformity
Ephesians 2:14
14 For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.
Devotional: One of the most quietly revolutionary things the early church did was bring together people who had no natural reason to gather. Jews and Gentiles. Rich and poor. Educated and unlearned. They did not all look alike, think alike, or come from the same background. Their unity was not rooted in sameness — it was rooted in a shared Savior. Today, the temptation to build community only with people who are just like us is just as strong as it ever was. But that kind of community is not biblical community. It is just a comfortable club. True biblical community requires the hard and holy work of learning to love across differences, and trusting that Christ is enough to hold it all together.
Reflection: Who in your church or community is genuinely different from you — in background, personality, race, or life experience — with whom you have never made a real effort to connect?
Practical Application: Seek out someone in your church community whose life experience differs significantly from yours. Ask them to share their story. Listen without the intention of responding — only to understand.
