The Secret Place of Prayer

Matthew 6:5-6
5 “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Psalm 91:1

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Devotional: God invites you into the secret place—not to perform, but to connect. In this hidden sanctuary, there's no need for polished words or impressive prayers. Like a child speaking honestly to a loving parent, you can bring your unfiltered heart before Him. The secret place is where transformation happens beneath the surface, where God's surgical knife removes bitterness and unforgiveness, where His oil heals your deepest wounds. Today, shut the door on distractions. Turn off your devices. Meet with your Father privately. He sees everything—your tears, your struggles, your desperate need—and He rewards those who seek Him earnestly. Your private prayers build the foundation for public faith.

Reflection:
What distractions keep you from the secret place? What would change if you prioritized private prayer today?
