Moving Beyond Awareness to Experience

Acts 19:1-6
1 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. 2 “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.
“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3 “Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked.
And they replied, “The baptism of John.”
4 Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”
5 As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.

Devotional: The disciples in Ephesus believed in Jesus but hadn't yet experienced the Holy Spirit's power. They had repentance but lacked empowerment. Many Christians today live similarly—believing the message but missing the power to overcome sin and live victoriously. Knowledge about the Holy Spirit differs vastly from experiencing His presence. These disciples moved from awareness to experience when Paul laid hands on them, and immediately the Spirit's gifts manifested. God has an "executive level" of spiritual living available to you—a dimension of intimacy, power, and divine guidance beyond what you've known. Don't settle for just "getting by" spiritually. There's more of God available than you've yet experienced, regardless of how long you've been a Christian.

Reflection Question: Are you living in spiritual power, or just spiritual knowledge?
