God Rejoices Over You With Singing

Zephaniah 3:14-17
14 Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel.  Be glad and rejoice with all your heart                    Daughter Jerusalem!
15 The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy.  The Lord,        the King of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm.
16 On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, Zion; do not let your hands hang           limp.
17 The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight       in you;  in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Ephesians 2:4-7
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

After preaching about all your reasons to rejoice, here's the stunning finale: God rejoices over YOU. The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He takes great delight in you. In His love, He rejoices over you with singing. The God who spoke galaxies into existence sings over His children. He doesn't merely tolerate you or grudgingly accept you—He delights in you. This isn't based on your performance but on His nature and your position in Christ. When judgment gave way to grace and warnings gave way to worship in Zephaniah's prophecy, it revealed God's heart: He longs to celebrate His people. Today, know that even as you praise Him, He is rejoicing over you.

Reflection:
How does knowing God delights in you—not just loves you, but actually rejoices over you—change your self-perception and your worship? What would it mean to live today as someone God sings over?

Closing Challenge: Tomorrow, as we gather for worship, practice demonstrative praise. Whether it's clapping, raising your hands, speaking out loud, or dancing before the Lord, stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone. Don't praise because you feel like it—praise because He's worthy. As long as you have breath, you have reason to rejoice.
