The Power Within Your Words

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Devotional: Words are not neutral. Every sentence you speak carries weight -- either building something up or tearing something down. Long before you ever open your mouth, your words are being shaped in the treasury of your heart. What you store there determines what flows out. Today, take an honest inventory of the words you have spoken this week. Have they brought life to those around you? Have they reflected the God who spoke the entire universe into existence? You were made in his image, which means you carry a measure of that same creative power in your words. Use it wisely. Use it intentionally. Use it for life.
Personal Reflection: What words have you spoken recently that you wish you could take back? What words have you held back that someone needed to hear?
Practical Application: Before your next conversation today, pause for five seconds and ask yourself whether what you are about to say will build up or tear down.
