You are Never Alone - The Promise of God's Presence
Reading: Hebrews 13:5-6
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
This passage shows God promising that He will never leave or forsake His people, giving them courage to face any circumstance without fear.
Devotional: Fear thrives in isolation. When the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with an army behind them and water in front of them, the temptation must have been overwhelming to believe they had been abandoned. But God had not moved. His presence does not retreat when our circumstances become frightening. He is present in the doctor's office, in the new school hallway, in the grief, in the confusion, in the middle-of-the-night anxiety. The same God who sent a cloud by day and fire by night has promised never to leave you. That promise is not conditional on how your circumstances look. It is anchored in His unchanging character.
Reflection: When do you most struggle to feel God's presence? What truth from Scripture can you anchor yourself to during those moments?
Application: Memorize the core promise found in Hebrews 13:5 this week. Write it somewhere visible -- a mirror, a dashboard, a phone screen -- as a daily reminder that you are not alone.
