GO - Following God's Lead Every Step of the Way

Reading:  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
20 After leaving Sukkoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

This passage shows God leading the Israelites through the wilderness by a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night, never removing His presence from among them.

Devotional: The pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire were not decorations. They were the living, moving presence of God guiding His people through terrain they had never navigated before. Notice what the text emphasizes: the pillar was always with them. Not sometimes. Not on the easy days only. Always. God did not set His people in motion and then step back to watch from a distance. He led from the front. He stayed through the night. He moved when they needed to move and stopped when they needed to rest. Whatever road you are on today, you are not navigating it alone. God is your guide.

Reflection: In what area of your life do you most need to sense God's leading right now? Have you been trying to navigate it independently?

Application: Practice a moment of stillness today. Before making any significant choice, pause and ask: Is the cloud moving, or is God calling me to stay put?
