Accepting the Helping Hand
Acts 3:6-7
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Devotional: Peter didn't just speak healing over the lame man—he extended his hand. The miracle required both divine power and human partnership. God often sends help through the body of Christ: small groups, counselors, friends, recovery programs, or pastoral care. Yet pride, fear, or stubbornness can cause us to reject these extended hands. The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us that two are better than one, and a cord of three strands is not easily broken. God designed us for community, not isolation. Is there a helping hand you've been refusing? Perhaps it's time to humble yourself and accept the support God has placed in your path. Healing often comes through connection, not isolation. Take inventory of the resources around you and courageously reach out.
