Dead Man Walking
This powerful message challenges us to embrace one of Christianity's most paradoxical truths: we must die to truly live. Drawing from Matthew 16:24 and Galatians 2:20, we're confronted with Jesus's radical call to give up our own way, take up our cross, and follow Him. The concept of being 'dead men walking' isn't about spiritual lifelessness, but about crucifying our old nature so Christ can live through us. We're reminded that the greatest men and fathers aren't measured by wealth, strength, or worldly success, but by their willingness to surrender daily to Christ. This involves nailing our pride, selfishness, anger, and desire for control to the cross. The sermon beautifully illustrates this through Jesus's own words about the grain of wheat that must die to produce a harvest. Just as Jesus had to die to establish His church and bring salvation, we must allow every part of us that doesn't conform to the Father's will to die. Our families don't need perfect providers; they need spiritual leaders who live by faith, love sacrificially, and model what it means to follow Jesus authentically. The message calls us to examine what still needs to be crucified in our lives and challenges us to become men and women who are dead to self, dead to sin, and fully alive in Christ.
