The Promise of Resurrection
Romans 6:8-11
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 3:21-22
21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
Acts 2:38
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The resurrection of Jesus is not only a historical event. It is the foundation of every believer's present and future hope. Because Christ rose, you are not defined by your past. Because Christ rose, the grave of your failures, your shame, your regrets, and your sin does not have the final word. Acts 2:38 lays out the path clearly: repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is the full pattern of the gospel applied to a human life. Death, burial, and resurrection. You are not meant to stay buried in the water or in your past. You are meant to rise.
Reflection: What past failure or shame have you been carrying that the resurrection of Christ has already addressed?
Application: If you have not yet been baptized by immersion, prayerfully consider taking that step. If you have, spend time today thanking God specifically for the new life you have been given and recommit to walking in it fully.
