Chosen for a Purpose

Daily Devotion - August 18, 2025

1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

You are part of a chosen generation, handpicked by God for this time and place. Just as the sermon emphasized God's purpose for each generation, today's reading reminds us of our special calling. Reflect on what it means to be "a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession." How does this identity shape your daily life? Consider ways you can "declare the praises" of God in your unique circumstances, whether at school, work, or in your relationships. Remember, you're not just chosen, but chosen with a purpose - to show others the goodness of God who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
